Understanding the “Why” of Giving

In 20 years, one in four Arkansans will be 65 years old or older, and this group will be the number one consumer of health care.  At the same time, the number of 85-year olds will have nearly tripled and many will be dependent on others to meet their daily needs.  America will face the biggest health care crisis in its history.  So we need your support at the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging.

Already on any given day, 60% of the patients in the UAMS Medical Center hospital are older adults, and this percentage will continue to rise.  We know that older patients appreciate

being treated as unique individuals who often have complex, interrelated conditions and needs.  At the Reynolds Institute on Aging, our patients know they will be under the skilled care of an interdisciplinary team of professionals who are well-schooled in the unique health needs of older adults.

At the UAMS Reynolds Institute on Aging, we see older men and women who are discovering a new zest for life and who are gaining the confidence to improve their own health.  They seek us out and keep coming back because our doctors prescribe realistic treatment for patients their age and avoid unnecessary procedures and medications.  We believe we owe our older citizens the opportunity to live healthy, happy and productive lives for as long as possible.

There are many reasons and ways you can help us prepare to meet the needs of the aging baby-boomers in our clinical, research and educational programs.
