I decided that my future was in the medical field in 1988 after watching my mother pass away from surgery complications. I observed the care giving to my mother during this time, which lead me to the decision to pursue a nursing career. While in nursing school I worked as a patient care assistant in a long term care setting. I graduated from Rich Mountain Community College in 1989. I began my career as a nurse at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center. I later moved to the Fort Smith area and worked with the geriatric patients for 20 years at Sparks Medical Center. I enjoyed teaching new employees, patients and caregivers new skills.
I have been married for 34 years and have two lovely daughters. My oldest daughter is a store manager and my youngest is in her third year at UA Fort Smith. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband. We love visiting and hiking our state parks.

Our Facility
Our students learn in both the classroom and in the training facility. The classroom allows students to learn in a quiet, comfortable environment. Students will find the training rooms to be very realistic – allowing them to truly learn and experience caregiving.
