The staff at the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging is dedicated to providing the most highly advanced and compassionate care to you or your loved one.  Established in 2000 with a $28.8 million gift from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, the four-story structure houses primary care, education, research and outreach programs for adults 65 years and older.  The Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics, one of only a few free-standing departments in the nation, is also headquartered in the facility.  Located on the campus of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the 96,000-square foot Reynolds Institute is one of six designated institutes of excellence at UAMS.

Donald W. Reynolds, an Arkansas native, was born in 1906 and died in 1993 at the age of 87.  He was a very successful and philanthropic businessman who founded the Donrey Media Group, which owned and operated newspapers, television and radio stations, cable television operations and outdoor billboards.  Today the Reynolds Foundation continues his lengthy legacy of charitable giving with funding programs for capital grants, aging and quality of life, cardiovascular clinical research, and journalism.

Projections indicate that by 2020 there will be as many retired Americans as there are American children.  Reynolds Institute programs places emphasis on safeguarding the functional independence of older individuals by improving access to health care and providing public education.

Patients, age 65-years and older, are cared for by a multi-disciplinary team of specialists who have received training in health management and treatment of older adults. Geriatricians, advanced practice nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, physical and occupational therapists, and social workers each make up the team.  Unless specified by your particular insurance plan, no physician referral is necessary to make an appointment in the Thomas and Lyon Longevity Clinic.
